Deep South Entertainment:
Founded in 1995 by Andy Martin and Dave Rose, Deep South originally obtained national recognition for its DEEP compilation CD's. Deep South found new talent and then featured these artists on the DEEP compilations. Over 20 artists from the first 3 compilation CD's went on to obtain major label record deals and land coveted spots on the Billboard charts. Among these was the number one hit "Sex and Candy" by Marcy Playground.
As the company grew, it gradually shifted it's focus to Artist Management, over the years handling the careers of artists such as Bruce Hornsby, Little Feat, SR-71, Lee Roy Parnell, Allison Moorer, The Warren Brothers, Stryper, Vienna Teng, and many more. Deep South continues to operate as a record label, artist management company, merchandising company, and a music publishing company, with offices in both Raleigh, NC and Nashville, TN. Locally, Deep South is best known for producing concerts. In 2005, Deep South along with 96rock and Bud Light, launched North Carolina's largest free outdoor concert series: Bud Light Downtown Live. Held in downtown Raleigh's Moore Square Park, the Bud Light Downtown Live stage has featured some of the worlds most renowned artists including Better Than Ezra, Violent Femmes, Candlebox, Spin Doctors, Big Head Todd & The Monsters, Presidents of the USA, Lit, Arrested Development and many, many more. Deep South is now one of the largest producers of free concerts in the Southeast.
